On this day in Hip-Hop history, Raekwon released his debut solo album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

On this day in 1995, Chef Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan released his debut solo album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... on Loud.  The album was produced by RZA and was presented like a film and starred Raekwon with fellow Wu member Ghostface Killah acting as costar.  The set featured several samples from John Woo's 1989 film The Killer.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... spawned the singles "Ice Cream," which reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100; "Criminology," which peaked at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100; "Heaven & Hell," which reached #21 on the Rap chart; and "Rainy Dayz," which was the final released single off the album.  The third solo released by a Wu member reached #4 on the Billboard 200.  It was certified platinum by the RIAA.

On this day in Hip-Hop history, the Migos released their debut studio album Yung Rich Nation.

On this day in 2015, the Migos released their debut studio album Yung Rich Nation on 300 Entertainment.  The album featured production by Zaytoven, Murda Beatz, and Honorable C.N.O.T.E. and others.  Guest artists featured on the set included Young Thug and Chris Brown.

Yung Rich Nation spawned the singles "One Time," which reached #34 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart; and "Pipe It Up," which was the last single released off the debut.  The album debuted at #17 on the Billboard200.  It reached #3 on the Rap chart.

On this day in Hip-Hop history, Leaders of the New School released their debut album A Future Without A Past.

On this day in 1991, Leaders of the New School, who featured a young nineteen year old Busta Rhymes, released their debut album A Future Without A Past on Elektra. Other members from the Long Island group were Charlie Brown, Dinco D, and Cut Monitor Milo.  They appeared as guests on a few singles together before the release of their debut album.

A Future Without A Past spawned a few hit singles including "Sobb Story," Case of the P.T.A.," and "The International Zone Coaster," all of which reached the top ten on the Rap chart.  The album peaked at #128 on the Billboard 200 and #53 on the R&B chart.

On this day in Hip-Hop history, the legend, 2Pac, was born.

On this day in 1971, the revolutionary poet, writer, author, rapper and actor Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in New York City, New York.  The legend moved to the Bay Area of California in 1988 at the age of 17 and by 1991 released his debut album 2Pacalypse Now on Interscope.  2Pac released a total of four studio albums before his untimely death: 2Pacalypse Now, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z., Me Against the World, and the double-album All Eyez on Me.  He starred or co-starred in six major motion films: Juice, Poetic Justice, Above the Rim, Bullet, Gridlock'd, and Gang Related.  Tupac is also authored the book The Rose That Grew From Concrete which featured a collection of his poems written between 1989-1991.  2Pac Shakur is considered one of the most influential hip-hop artists to date.

On this day in 1994, Arrested Development released their second album Zingalamaduni on Chrysalis.  The album was produced by Speech.  The sophomore set was named after the Swahili word for "beehive of culture" and utilized a number of African musical elements.  

Zingalamaduni spawned the singles "Africa's Inside Me;" "United Front," which reached #66 on the R&B chart; and "Ease My Mind," which peaked at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The album reached #55 on the Billboard 200.  It peaked at #20 on the R&B chart.

On this day in Hip-Hop history, L.L. Cool J released the single "I'm Bad."

On this day in 1987, L.L. Cool J released the single "I'm Bad" on Def Jam.  The leadoff single from Bigger and Deffer was produced by L.L. and L.A. Posse and sampled "Theme from S.W.A.T." by Rhythm Heritage.  The visuals for the single was an action crime caper with an anti drug message.  "I'm Bad" peaked at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It reached #4 on the R&B chart.

On this day in 2007, Fabolous released his fourth album From Nothin' to Somethin' on Desert Storm.  The album featured production by Timbaland, Just Blaze, Neo da Matrix, and Jermaine Dupre.  Notable guest artists featured on the set included T-Pain, Ne-Yo, Young Jeezy, Akon, Lil' Mo, Lloyd, Junior Reed, Swiss Beatz, Rihanna, Pusha T, Red Cafe', Uncle Murda, Paul Cain, Joe Budden, Freck Billionaire, Ransom, and Jay Z.

From Nothin' to Somethin' spawned the singles "Baby Don't Go," which reached #4 on the Rap chart; "Make Me Better," which reached #1 on the Rap chart and remained there for fourteen weeks; and "Diamonds," which peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The album reached #2 on the Billboard 200.  It was certified gold by the RIAA.

On this day in 2002, Atmosphere released their second studio album God Loves Ugly on Rhymesayers Entertainment.  The album was produced by group member Ant.  The second set featured Self Devine as a guest artist on the track "Flesh."    

God Loves Ugly spawned the singles "Modern Man's Hustle," which reached #18 on the Rap chart; and "GodLovesUgly."  The album peaked at #139 on the Billboard 200.  It reached #43 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.  The album would be rereleased along with a DVD on January 20, 2009.
