On this day in Hip-Hop history, the legend, 2Pac, was born.
On this day in 1971, the revolutionary poet, writer, author, rapper and actor Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in New York City, New York. The legend moved to the Bay Area of California in 1988 at the age of 17 and by 1991 released his debut album 2Pacalypse Now on Interscope. 2Pac released a total of four studio albums before his untimely death: 2Pacalypse Now, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z., Me Against the World, and the double-album All Eyez on Me. He starred or co-starred in six major motion films: Juice, Poetic Justice, Above the Rim, Bullet, Gridlock'd, and Gang Related. Tupac is also authored the book The Rose That Grew From Concrete which featured a collection of his poems written between 1989-1991. 2Pac Shakur is considered one of the most influential hip-hop artists to date.

On this day in 1994, Arrested Development released their second album Zingalamaduni on Chrysalis. The album was produced by Speech. The sophomore set was named after the Swahili word for "beehive of culture" and utilized a number of African musical elements. Zingalamaduni spawned the singles "Africa's Inside Me;" "United Front," which reached #66 on the R&B chart; and "Ease My Mind," which peaked at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100.
