On this day in 1995, Chef Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan released his debut solo album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... on Loud. The album was produced by RZA and was presented like a film and starred Raekwon with fellow Wu member Ghostface Killah acting as costar. The set featured several samples from John Woo's 1989 film The Killer. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... spawned the singles "Ice Cream," which reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100; "Criminology," which peaked at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100; "Heaven & Hell," which reached #21 on the Rap chart; and "Rainy Dayz," which was the final released single off the album. The third solo released by a Wu member reached #4 on the Billboard 200. It was certified platinum by the RIAA.
