Guest artists featured on the set included Kebo Gotti, Cap, Roscoe Dash, Wale, French Montana, Cartier Kitten, Mouse, YG Hootie, Joe Moses, Big Deal, Suge Gotti, Baby Bomb, RA Diggs, Uncle Murda, Smurf, Ice Burgandy, Pastor Troy, Slim Dunkin, and Gudda Gudda. Flockaveli spawned the hit singles "Hard in da Paint," which reached #28 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart; "Grove St. Party," which reached #10 on the Rap chart; "Oh Let's Do It," which peaked at #62 on the Billboard Hot 100; and "No Hands," which reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. On this day in 1988, the Ultramagnetic MC's released their debut studio album Critical Beatdown on Next Plateau. The album was primarily produced by crew member Ced-Gee and featured a blend of electronic music and extensive funk samples. Critical Beatdown achieved modest success at its release and reached #57 on the R&B chart. It is considered an influential example of New York rap from hip-hop's "golden era."

The set spawned three huge hits "Livin' It Up," which featured Case and hit the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts, "Always on Time," and "I'm Real (Murder Remix)," both of which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Pain is Love debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. It was nominated for a Grammy and was certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.

On this day in 1996, member of the supergroup Golden State Warriors, Ras Kass released his debut album Soul on Ice on Priority. The album was named after the 1968 book by Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver and was a hip-hop manifesto of the black struggle in the 1990s. Soul on Ice was produced by Ras Kass along with with Battlecat, Bird, Voodu, and others. The only guest featured on the album was Coolio on the joint "Drama." The debut spawned a few hit singles, "Miami Life," "Anything Goes," and the title track "Soul on Ice." Although not a single, "Nature of the Threat" gained huge attention because of its controversial political content. Soul on Ice reached #169 on the Billboard 200 and #35 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
