On this day in 1990, Vanilla Ice released his classic debut album To the Extreme on SBK. The album was originally released in 1989 on the indie label Ichiban Records. To The Extreme hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and remained there for sixteen weeks. It was certified multi-platinum and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. It was the biggest-sold rap album at the time. The album spawned a few singles including, "I Love You," a reworking of "Play That Funky Music," and the massive hit "Ice Ice Baby." Also on this day... 1991 - Naughty By Nature released their self-titled debut on Tommy Boy. Their previous work was under the name The New Style.

Swass featured a few hit singles, including "Posse on Broadway," and "Rippin" which Kid Sensation appeared as a guest. The title track's hook would later be used for the 2005 Pussycat Dolls single "Don't Cha." The album spent fifty-eight weeks on the charts and reached #82 on the Billboard 200 and #20 on the R&B chart. Swass was certified platinum.
