On this day in 2007, Soulja Boy released his debut single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" on Interscope. The song was self-produced and was the lead single off the debut album souljaboytellem.com which released later that year in October. The single launched a dance craze and the instructional video on how to perform the dance had been viewed over 27 million times on YouTube by 2008. The debut joint reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was nominated for a Grammy and was the first song to sell three million digital copies.
