On this day in 1992, Nas, under the moniker Nasty Nas, released his debut single "Halftime" on Ruffhouse. The single was produced by Large Professor. It contained samples from "Schoolboy Crush" by Average White Band, "Soul Traveling" by Gary Byrd, and "Dead End" by Japanese Hair.
"Halftime" was originally recorded for the soundtrack album to the film Zebrahead. The song was later included on Nas's debut album Illmatic in 1994.
