On this day in Hip-Hop history, Madvillain released their debut album Madvillainy.

On this day in 2004, Madvillain released their debut album Madvillainy on Stones Throw.  Rapper MF Doom and producer Madlib formed the duo and self-produced their album on a $13,000 budget.  Madvillainyspawned the singles "All Caps" and "Money Folder," which reached #66 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.  The album peaked at #179 on the Billboard 200 and #80 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

2004 - Eyedea & Abilities released their second studio album E&A on Epitaph Records/Rhymesayers Entertainment.

2004 - Murs and 9th Wonder released their first collaboration album Murs 3: 16: The 9th Edition on Definitive Jux.

2016 - Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest passed away.
