On this day in 1991, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince released their fourth studio album Homebase on Jive. The album was produced by DJ Jazzy Jeff, Hula & K. Fingers, and Will Smith. Homebase spawned the singles "Summertime," which was the lead single and reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and won a Grammy; "Ring My Bell," which peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA; "The Things That U Do;" and "You Saw My Blinker," which was the final single off the album and was only the second track that Fresh Prince used obscenities. The album reached #12 on the Billboard 200. It reached #5 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. It was certified platinum by the RIAA.
