On this day in Hip-Hop history, The Roots self-released their debut album Organix.

On this day in 1993, The Roots, consisting of members ?uestlove, Black Thought, Leonard "Hub" Hubbard, Scott Storch, and MCs Malik B. and Kid Crumbs, self-released their debut album Organix on Remedy Records.  The album was self-produced by The Roots and was sold while on tour in Europe before being rereleased on Cargo Records in 1998.

Organix included the hits "Pass the Popcorn," "The Session (Longest Posse Cut in History, 12:43)," and "I'm Out Deah."

Chill Rob G of The Flavor Unit released his debut solo album Ride the Rhythm on Wild Pitch.

1995 - The Simpsons air its "Homerpalooza" episode which featured Cypress Hill.

1998 - DMX released his debut album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot on Ruff Ryders.?

2009 - Eminem released his sixth album Relapse on Interscope.

2014 - The Roots released their eleventh album ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin on Def Jam.
