On this day in 1988, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince released their single "Parents Just Don't Understand" on Jive. The single was produced by Jazzy Jeff and was featured on the duo's multi-platinum selling second album He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper. "Parents Just Don't Understand" reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at #10 on the R&B chart. It won a Grammy for best rap performance. The single was certified gold on February 24, 1989 by the RIAA.
