On this day in Hip-Hop history, The Game released his debut studio album The Documentary.

On this day in 2005, The Game released his debut studio album The Documentary on G Unit/Aftermath.  The album featured production from Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Scott Storch, Just Blaze, Timbaland, Mike Elizondo, Buckwild, Cool & Dre, Eminem, and others.  Notable guest artists featured on the album included Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige, Marsha Ambrosius, Dion, Tony Yayo, and the late Nate Dogg.

The Documentary produced the singles "Put You on the Game," "Dreams," "Higher," "Hate It or Love It," "Westside Story," and "How We Do," which featured 50 Cent and was certified gold by the RIAA.  The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.  It also topped the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts.  It sold over 2 million copies and was certified multi-platinum by the RIAA in 2005.
