On this day in Hip-Hop history, Run-D.M.C. released their fourth album Tougher Than Leather.

On this day in 1988, Run-D.M.C. released their fourth album Tougher Than Leather on Profile.  The album was self-produced along with production from Davy D and Rick Rubin.  The album was an accompaniment to the New Line Cinema crime film of the same name that starred Run-D.M.C. and was directed by Rick Rubin.

Tougher Than Leather spawned the classic hits "Run's House," "Beats to the Rhyme," and "Mary, Mary," which was a Monkee's cover.  The album reached #9 on the Billboard 200.  It peaked at #2 on the R&B chart.  It was certified platinum by the RIAA.
