On this day in 2000, Nelly released his debut album Country Grammar on Universal. The album was produced by City Spud, Basement Beats, Steve "Blast" Wills, and Jason "Jay E" Epperson. Guest artists featured on the set included Cedric the Entertainer, Lil Wayne, the Teamsters, and City Spud, Murphy Lee, Ali and the rest of the St. Lunatics Country Grammar spawned the hit singles: "Ride wit Me," which reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100; "E.I.," which peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100; "Batter Up;" and the title track "Country Grammar," which reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album reached #1 on the Billboard 200 and remained there for five weeks. It was certified diamond by the RIAA.
