On this day in 2001, Nas released his fifth studio album Stillmatic on Columbia. The album featured production from Nas, Swizz Beatz, Salaam Remi, Hangmen, Ron Browz, Megahertz, Precision, Large Professor, Chucky Thompson, Trackmasters, DJ Premier, and more. Guest artists featured on the album included Amerie, AZ, Keon Bryce, Millennium Thug, Bravehearts, and Mary J. Blige. Stillmatic spawned the three singles: "Rule," which reached #67 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart; "Got Ur Self A...," and "One Mic," which reached #10 on the Rap chart. The set also included one of the most renowned diss tracks in hip-hop history, "Ether," which was directed at Jay Z in response to Jay's diss track "Takeover." The album reached #5 on the Billboard 200. It was certified platinum one month after released.
