On this day in 1990, Monie Love released her debut album Down to Earth on Warner Bros. The album featured production by Native Tongues' the Beatnuts and Jungle Brothers, Jerry Callendar, Andy Cox, Richie Fermie, David Steele, and Dancin' Danny D. Down to Earth spawned a handful of singles in addition to the title track, including "Ring My Bell," "Grandpa's Party," "I Can Do This," "Monie in the Middle," which was nominated for a Grammy, and "It's A Shame (My Sister)," which peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album reached #26 on the R&B charts.
