On this day in 1996, Kool Keith of the Ultramagnetic MC's released his debut solo album Dr. Octagon/Dr. Octagonecologyst on Bulk. The classic album released under the pseudonym Dr. Octagon was produced by Dan "the Automator" Nakamura of the future Handsome Boy Modeling School along with contributions from DJ QBert and KutMasta Kurt. The debut set spawned the singles "Earth People," which was the lead single off the album followed by "3000," and "Blue Flowers." The album sold around 200,000 copies without any major promotion.
