On this day in 2001, Ja Rule released his third album Pain is Love on Murder Inc. The album was mostly produced by Irv Gotti along with Missy Elliot, Lil Rob, and Ty Fyffe. The set spawned three huge hits "Livin' It Up," which featured Case and hit the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts, "Always on Time," and "I'm Real (Murder Remix)," both of which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Pain is Love debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. It was nominated for a Grammy and was certified multi-platinum.
