On this day in 1989, Ice-T released his third album The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say on Sire.  The album was self-produced by Ice T and by Afrika Islam.  It was released after Ice-T encountered censorship issues while on tour.

Guests on the album were Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate which included future House of Pain member and solo artist Everlast.  Jello Biafra's spoken-word performance "Words from Our Sponsors" was sampled for the opening track along with Black Sabbath, hinting at Ice-T's future metal band Body Count.

The hard-hitting third album spawned three singles: "Lethal Weapon," "What Ya Wanna Do?," and "You Played Yourself."  The album reached #37 on the Billboard 200.  It reached #11 on the R&B chart.
