On this day in 1987, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince released their debut album Rock the House on Jive. The album was produced by the duo along with Pete Harris, Dana Goodman, and Lawrence Goodman. Rock the House featured the comedic hit single "Girls Ain't Nothing but Trouble," which sampled the theme from TV's I Dream of Jeannie and reached #57 on the Billboard Hot 100. The debut also contained the cult singles "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff," and "A Touch of Jazz," both of which featured the turntable mastery of Jazzy Jeff. The album peaked at #83 on the Billboard 200 and reached #24 on the R&B chart. It was certified gold by the RIAA.
