On this day in 2003, British emcee Dizzee Rascal released his debut album Boy in da Corner on XL in the UK. The debut was produced by Dizzee Rascal along with Chubby Dread, Moulders, Mr. Cage, Taz, and Vanguard. Guest artists featured on the set included Wiley, God's Gift, and Taz. Boy in da Corner spawned the singles: "I Luv U," which was the debut single and reached #29 on the UK Singles chart; "Fix Up, Look Sharp," which peaked at #17 on the UK Singles chart; and "Jus' a Rascal," which reached #30 on the UK Singles chart and #8 on the UK R&B chart. The album was awarded the prestigious Mercury Prize in the UK and reached #23 on the UK albums chart. It would later be released in the US in 2004 by Matador Records.
