On this day in 1989, Brooklyn MC Divine Styler released his debut album Word Power on Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate. The album was produced by Styler along with Bilal Bashir and Lawrence A. Duhart. The debut set was socially conscious and politically charged and spawned a few classics and the lead single "Ain't Sayin' Nothin'," which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Rap chart. Word Power reached #62 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
