On this day in 1994, the Digable Planets released their sophomore album Blowout Comb on EMI. The jazzy hip-hop album was self-produced by the group. Guest artists featured on the set included Jeru the Damaja, Jazzy Joyce, and Guru of Gang Starr. Blowout Comb spawned the hit singles "9th Wonder (Blackitolism)," which reached #8 on the Rap chart; and "Dial 7 (Axioms of Creamy Spies)," which reached #88 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and peaked at #32 on the Rap chart. The album reached #32 on the Billboard 200. It reached #13 on the R&B chart.
