On this day in 1991, De La Soul released their second album De La Soul Is Dead on Tommy Boy. The much-anticipated sophomore album was self-produced by the group along with Prince Paul. Guest artists featured on the set included Q-Tip, Black Sheep, and Russell Simmons. De La Soul Is Dead spawned the hits "A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays'," which was the lead single and reached #43 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart; "Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)," which peaked at #22 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart; and "Keepin' the Faith." The album reached #26 on the Billboard 200. It peaked at #24 on the R&B chart.
