Today in hip-hop history, 1994, Coolio released his debut album It Takes a Thief on Tommy Boy. The delicious album full of funk and humorous rhymes was produced by Bryan Dobbs.
It Takes a Thief featured four singles, including the funk classic "Fantastic Voyage," which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Rap chart. The song was sampled from the Lakeside's funk track with the same title. The album reached #8 on the Billboard 200. Also on this day... 1994 - MC Eiht released his debut solo album We Come Strapped on Epic. 2011 - DJ Khalid released We the Best Forever on Universal Motown.
