On this day in 1996, Busta Rhymes released his debut solo album The Coming on Elektra. The album featured production from DJ Scratch, Easy Mo Bee, and The Ummah, among others. Guest artists featured on the set included Def Squad members Redman and Keith Murray, Q-Tip, Zhane, and more. The Coming spawned the singles "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check," which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100; and "It's A Party," which peaked at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album reached #6 on the Billboard 200 and hit #1 on the R&B chart. It was certified platinum by the RIAA in January, 1999.
