On this day, 1991, Qwest Records released the soundtrack to Boyz n the Hood.
On July 9, 1991, Quincy Jones released the soundtrack to John Singleton's coming-of-age film, Boyz n The Hood. By September, the album would be certified gold.
The soundtrack reached #12 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the R&B chart. The album would see two major hit singles. The first being by a then 14 year old Tevin Cambell titled "Just Ask Me To," which reached #88 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #9 on the R&B chart. The other single would be Tony Toni Tone's "Just Me And You", which would later be sampled on Chingy's single "Don't Worry".
