On July 20, 1987, Too Short released his fourth studio album Born To Mack.  A year later, Born To Mack would be rereleased on Jive Records, making it Too Short's first nationally released record.

Born To Mack was filled with booming bass, dirty rhymes and glorified the pimp lifestyle.  It is considered one of the most influential Bay Area hip-hop albums of all time.  The album reached #50 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart and was certified gold.
