On this day in 1986, Salt-N-Pepa released their debut album Hot, Cool, & Vicious on Next Plateau. The album featured production from Hurby "Luv Bug" Azor. The album produced the singles "The Showstopper," which was the group's debut single and was originally released under the name Super Nature; "Tramp," "Chick on the Side," "My Mic Sounds Nice," and "Push It," which was nominated for a Grammy Award and was certified platinum. Hot, Cool, & Vicious is certified platinum. It is the first album by a female rap group to gain both gold and platinum status.
