On this day in 2006, Queen Latifah became the first hip-hop artist to be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The pioneering legend from New Jersey had released seven albums, appeared in over thirty films and television shows, and had won Grammy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and NAACP Image awards. The Queen had also been nominated for an Academy and Emmy award.
