On this day in 1995, Wu-Tang Clan member Ol' Dirty Bastard released his debut solo album Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version on Elektra. It was the second solo album released by a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. The album was produced by RZA, ODB, True Master, and 4th Disciple. Guest artists on the album included fellow Wu-Tang members GZA, RZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Masta Killa, along with Brooklyn Zoo and other Wu-Tang affiliates. Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty version spawned the singles "Brooklyn Zoo," which was the lead single from the album and reached #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on the Rap chart; and "Shimmy Shimmy Ya," which reached #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #9 on the Rap chart. The album peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200. It reached #2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. It was certified gold by the RIAA.
