On this day in 1994, the soundtrack to the eighteen-minute film that starred Snoop Doggy Dogg, Murder Was the Case, was released on Death Row Records. The film was directed by Dr. Dre and Fab Five-Freddy. The album featured production from Daz Dillinger, DeVante Swing, Sam Sneed, Soopafly, DJ Quik, and Dr. Dre. Murder Was the Case included the singles: "U Better Recognize," which reached #18 on the Rap chart; "What Would U Do," "Natural Born Killaz," and "Murder Was the Case Remix." The album reached #1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Rap chart and nominated for a Grammy Award. It was certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.
