On this day in 2016, Mass Appeal posthumously released J Dilla's The Diary. The album was originally recorded between 2001 and 2002 and was Dilla's last planned release before his untimely passing in 2006 from a blood disease. It was originally titled Pay Jay and featured the producer's vocals along with his productions. Other artists featured on the album included Snoop Dogg, Kokane, and Bilal. The Diarypeaked at #5 on the Rap chart. It reached #6 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
