On this day in 1993, Heavy D & the Boyz released their fourth album Blue Funk on Uptown. The album featured production from DJ Premier, Tony Dofat, Pete Rock, and Jesse West. Guest artists featured on the set included Busta Rhymes, Gang Starr, and most notable, the Notorious B.I.G., who made his recording debut for Uptown Records on album's final track. Blue Funk reached #40 on the Billboard 200. It reached #7 on the R&B chart.
