On this day in 1981, the Funky 4 + 1 performed their hit single "That's the Joint" on NBC's Saturday Night Live. The Bronx group's members included K.K., Keith Keith, Rahiem, Lil' Rodney C!, MC Jazzy Jeff, D.J. Breakout, D.J. Baron, and Sha Rock, who is noted for being one of the first female MCs. The Funky 4 + 1 performed their song on the Debbie Harry-hosted episode of SNL and became the first hip-hop act to perform on national television.
