On this day in 1988, Eric B. & Rakim released their sophomore album Follow the Leader on Uni. The album was self-produced by Eric B. and Rakim, along with Stevie Blass Griffin. Their second set spawned the singles "Microphone Fiend," and "Follow the Leader," which was the lead single and reached #16 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. It also contained the classic joints "Musical Massacre," "The R," and "Lyrics of Fury." Follow the Leader reached #22 on the Billboard 200. It peaked at #9 on the R&B chart. It was certified gold by the RIAA.
