On this day in 1994, Above the Rim- The Soundtrack was released on Death Row Records. It is the official soundtrack to the film of the same name. The album was executively produced by Suge Knight and featured production from many producers which included DJ Quik, Warren G, 2 II None, Dr. Dre, and more. Artists featured on the soundtrack included Jewell, Snoop Doggy Dogg, H-Town, SWV, 2Pac, and others. Above the Rim- The Soundtrack spawned the singles "Regulate," which featured Warren G and Nate Dogg and reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100; and "Afro Puffs," which featured The Lady of Rage along with Snoop Doggy Dogg and reached #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #5 on the Rap chart. The album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 and topped the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The soundtrack was certified multi-platinum by the RIAA in August, 1994.
