Killer Tracks, Dame Grease, DJ Shok, Nokio, Irv Gotti, and others. Notable guest artists featured on the album included Sisqo, Drag-On, The Lox, and Regina Belle. ...And Then There Was X spawned several hit singles, including "What's My Name," which reached #67 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #11 on the Rap charts; "Party Up (Up in Here)," which reached #27 on the Hot 100 and #8 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart; and "What These Bitches Want," which peaked at #49 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album reached #1 on the Billboard 200. It was nominated for two Grammys for best rap album and best rap solo performance. It sold over five million copies and was certified multi-platinum in 2001.

On this day in Hip-Hop history, Biz Markie was successfully sued for copyright infringement.
On this day in 1991, Biz Markie was successfully sued by singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan for copyright infringement. O'Sullivan filed suit charging that the song "Alone Again" by Biz Markie contained an unauthorized 20-second sample from his own song "Alone Again (Naturally)." The court's ruled that unlicensed sampling qualified as copyright infringement. This forever changed the precedents and standards for hip-hop sampling. Biz Markie was ordered to pay $250,000 in damages and his label was ordered to discontinue all sales of the single. Biz would address the lawsuit on his subsequent album in 1993 titled All Samples Cleared!

Notable guest artists featured on the album included fellow Wu-Tang members Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna, as well as Fat Joe, Havoc, and Capone. This was Raekwon's first solo album to not credit himself as "Chef" Raekwon. The Lex Diamond Story reached #18 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
