On this day in 2007, Talib Kweli released his third studio album, Eardrum, on Blacksmith Records. The album featured production from some of the top producers in the industry including, Kanye West, Madlib, Just Blaze, and many others. Guests featured on Eardrum included, UGK, Jean Grae, Lyfe Jennings, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, KRS-One, and others. Kweli's third album debuted at #2 on both the Billboard 200 and reached #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Eardrum sold over 60,000 copies its first week.

On this day in 2002, Clipse released their debut studio album Lord Willin' on Star Trak/Arista. The Virginia hip-hop duo of Malice and Pusha T would have their album certified gold. Lord Willin' was produced by their mentors, the Neptunes. The album featured that summer's smash hit "Grindin'," which reached #30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #8 on the Rap chart. The single "When the Last Time" topped the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts at #1. The album itself reached #4 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The album featured a star-studded class of MCs including Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, Ludacris, Nelly, Pusha T, Nas, ODB, Kelis, and Jadakiss. Clones would be certified gold. It peaked at #1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The self-produced hit "Frontin'," which featured Jay Z, was Pharrell's debut solo single and it was a top five hit on the Billboard Hot 100. On this day in 1993, the Memphis duo of Eightball & MJG released their debut studio album Comin' Out Hard on Suave House. Founder of the Houston-based Suave House Records, Tony Draper, had released the album. It would be a landmark for southern rap. The pioneering album inspired an entire generation of Memphis and southern rappers. Comin' Out Hard peaked at #40 and managed to stay a total of fifty-nine weeks on the R&B chart. Also on this day... 2010 - Lil Wayne released the single "Right Above It" on Young Money. On this day in hip-hop history, Organized Konfusion released Stress: The Extinction Agenda. On this day in 1994, rap group Organized Konfusion released their second album Stress: The Extinction Agenda on Hollywood BASIC. The album featured production by future star producers Buckwild and Rockwilder. It would also feature artists O.C. and Q-Tip on a track. Fresh along with his Get Fresh Crew (MC Ricky D aka Slick Rick, Barry Bee, and Chill Will), released the 12" single with "The Show" and "La Di Da Di" on Reality. The joint has since been considered a classic. "The Show" peaked at #4 on the R&B chart and reached the top five in the UK. It sold over half a million copies in the US and was the best selling rap single in Europe. "The Show" was later featured as a remix on Doug E. Fresh's debut album Oh, My God! in 1986. Born in the Bronx and the cousin of Afrika Bambaataa, MC Shy-D relocated to Atlanta and took the New York hip-hop style with him.
